Northern Neck Electric Cooperative donates sports equipment to the newly opened Northumberland Unit of The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck.

After visiting the newly built facility, staff recognized that there were no basketball hoops or other sports equipment for the over 60 students attending the summer program. After finishing their shift, a crew of lineworkers delivered two basketball hoops, assembled them, and also dropped off balls, replacement nets, and other equipment needed for summer play.

“Our mission is to improve the quality of life in our communities. The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck is a wonderful organization with a great mission that is in alignment with ours. When missions are in alignment, partnerships develop, and positive change and profound impact occur. We are thrilled to be a part of this effort for our region’s youth,” said Brad Hicks, president and CEO of NNEC.

“Concern for community is one of the values of a cooperative, and it is one of the things that makes us different,” said Kyle Allwine, manager of public relations. “When our team sees a need in the community, it is important for us to fill that need.”
