Northern Neck Electric Cooperative is now accepting applications for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s 2023 Youth Tour program, which will take place June 19-23 in Washington, D.C.

Youth Tour is an exclusive leadership experience that includes meeting members of Congress and visiting the U.S. Capitol Visitor’s Center and the Capitol building, local memorials and museums, and other historic sites. In previous years, students have attended Nationals’ baseball games, the Kennedy Center, and the Pentagon. In addition, selected students will meet over 1,800 other students from across the country. The selected students can also gain exclusive leadership training and opportunities that build connections and skills that assist in their future career paths.

NNEC will send a delegation of up to four students and pay all expenses related to travel and the experience. Over the last few decades, NNEC has supported over 60 students to participate in the transformative experience.

Eligible entrants must be a high school sophomore or junior, be a Northern Neck Electric Cooperative member, and submit an online application. The full requirements and application are available on visit Youth Tour page. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2023.

“Youth Tour is an amazing opportunity for students from the Northern Neck,” said Kyle Allwine, manager of public relations for NNEC. “They will leave the experience with a solid foundation of leadership skills that will power their careers for decades to come.”
