Jason Kenner, Cowart Seafood Corporation’s president and manager, has joined Northern Neck Electric Cooperative’s board of directors. Kenner was appointed to the board in October to serve members who live in Lancaster County.

NNEC Board Chairman, Hunter Greenlaw, Jr., said, “Jason Kenner is a great fit for the NNEC board. His passion for this cooperative, this community, and this region, paired with his business acumen will be a great asset to the boardroom as we strive to make decisions that best serve our membership.”

Kenner leads over 70 employees at Cowart Seafood Corporation, one of the largest oyster planters and harvesters in Virginia. He holds the role of president and manager and is responsible for all daily operations. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in crop and soil environmental science from Virginia Tech. He also works on his family’s farm, Kenner Farms.

He is looking forward to representing NNEC members by serving on the board. “As a proud member of the cooperative both at home and in business, I have always been impressed with NNEC’s service to its members and its exceptional reliability while balancing affordability and safety. I am humbled to have been appointed to this important position and will work hard to help the cooperative continue its mission to improve the quality of life in our communities,” said Kenner.

Kenner has an extensive history of service to the community. In his youth, he earned the Eagle Scout Award. He is a member of the Northumberland County Young Farmers and the Warsaw Bauman Mason Lodge #332. He is also a member of Lebanon Baptist Church in Alfonso, VA.

Kenner resides in Lively, VA with Ashleigh Lewis and their five children.

As a not-for-profit electric utility, NNEC is governed by a 7-member board, elected by those served by the cooperative. Directors must be members of the cooperative and serve three-year terms.
