A tool is available through the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) that estimates the energy production and cost of energy of grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) energy systems. The tool, PVWatts®, is a free application that allows consumers to easily develop estimates of the performance of potential PV installations. NREL is a third-party research laboratory of the U.S. Department of Energy and the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy and is not associated with Northern Neck Electric Co-op. The Weatherization Assistance Program is a grant-funded opportunity to help make your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
(NNEC) is offering its residential members the opportunity to subscribe to more solar energy through the Cooperative Sunshare community-solar program.
Currently, a small portion of energy purchased and distributed by NNEC comes from solar generation. With Cooperative Sunshare, interested members who desire to have a larger percentage of solar power at their homes have the option of purchasing 50 kilowatt-hour (kWh) blocks of solar energy each month.
