Manager of Accounting

The Manager of Accounting will coordinate and oversee the preparation and maintenance of the Northern Neck Electric Cooperative’s financial records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage overall performance of the accounting, finance and billing functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, work order, inventory, and capital credits.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of all accounting and reporting systems with GAAP, industry, and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting requirements of RUS, CFC, SCC, and other local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly financial reports.
  • Maintain and enforce internal control processes to minimize financial risk.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of FEMA reimbursement claims.
  • Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other transactions.
  • Manage roles and responsibilities of accounting department personnel.
  • Coordinate annual audit activities.
  • Prepare annual budget for Finance Department.
  • Maintain ten-year Financial Forecast.
  • Assist with preparation of loan applications and loan requisitions.
  • Assist with preparation of Construction Work Plans.
  • Assist with preparation of the Cooperative’s annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Assist with preparation of Form 990.
  • Assist with preparation of rate filings with the State Corporation Commission.

Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field and a minimum of five years of supervisory experience in the accounting field.  The equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.

Manager of Human Resources

The Manager of Human Resources will oversee the management of human resources functions for Northern Neck Electric Cooperative.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to, the following:

  • Plans, develops, recommends, and implements human resources activities and programs for the Cooperative, assisting upper management as requested.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources.
  • Manages benefits administration and salary administration.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Manages activities relating to employee education and training and management development.
  • Administers and maintains records of employee benefits and personnel transactions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
  • Prepares and analyzes department budget identifying budget needs.

Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field and a minimum of five years of directly related experience in human resources management.  The equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.  A current human resources certification is highly desired.

MEMBER SERVICES FIELD REPRESENTATIVE

The Member Services Field Representative will provide excellent service in the field to Northern Neck Electric Cooperative’s members. The job requires a wide variety of skills including diagnosing and correcting a variety of electrical-related issues and installing electrical equipment. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to, the following:

  • Install and maintain load management switches for members participating in the Cooperative’s load management program.
  • Troubleshoot water heater problems and perform routine maintenance (replace thermostats, elements, etc. as needed).
  • Test and program load management switches.
  • Inspect the member's grounding system and install whole-house surge protection equipment for participating members.
  • Perform energy audits.
  • Read meters, inspect the facilities and record data as required.
  • Inspect meters for evidence of meter tampering, power diversion or revenue loss and take the necessary steps to correct the problem.
  • Record revenue loss instances and work with the proper authorities including court appearances where required.
  • When required, test single-phase meters and adjust as necessary using the cooperative’s meter test equipment.
  • Install and remove single phase, poly-phase and specialty meters (ex. Time of Use, Net Metering).
  • Perform visual patrol of the electric facilities and report potential problems.
  • Perform collection of delinquent accounts and returned checks.
  • Respond to field inquiries by answering members’ questions or referring them to appropriate personnel for assistance.
  • Inspect assigned vehicle daily for proper maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Participate in on-duty rotation as needed
  • Perform inquiries, update records and create service orders when needed.
  • Troubleshoot meter issues (ex. stuck meters, meters not reading).
  • Install and troubleshoot GenerLink transfer switches.

Applicant must be a high school graduate and possess a valid driver’s license. 

Basic electrical wiring training is required.  Cooperative will provide water heater maintenance and switch installation training.  Must have ability to meet and deal with members and the general public in a highly creditable and professional manner. Must be able to accurately operate computer, calculator, various meter reading devices, electronic test equipment, two-way radio, telephone, extension stick and other miscellaneous equipment.
