Manager of Accounting

The Manager of Accounting will coordinate and oversee the preparation and maintenance of the Northern Neck Electric Cooperative’s financial records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage overall performance of the accounting, finance and billing functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, work order, inventory, and capital credits.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of all accounting and reporting systems with GAAP, industry, and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting requirements of RUS, CFC, SCC, and other local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly financial reports.
  • Maintain and enforce internal control processes to minimize financial risk.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of FEMA reimbursement claims.
  • Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other transactions.
  • Manage roles and responsibilities of accounting department personnel.
  • Coordinate annual audit activities.
  • Prepare annual budget for Finance Department.
  • Maintain ten-year Financial Forecast.
  • Assist with preparation of loan applications and loan requisitions.
  • Assist with preparation of Construction Work Plans.
  • Assist with preparation of the Cooperative’s annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Assist with preparation of Form 990.
  • Assist with preparation of rate filings with the State Corporation Commission.

Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field and a minimum of five years of supervisory experience in the accounting field.  The equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.

MEMBER SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE

The major duties of this job are to perform all routine cashiering functions, handle billing inquiries via telephone, postal service, electronic mail or in person, work with collections, open and process incoming mail, make appointments for service personnel, and promote the Cooperative’s products and services.  Must have the ability to exercise professionalism in all written and verbal communications with customers and the general public and to employ decision-making skills.  Must have considerable skill in effectively dealing with a variety of people under varying and sometimes difficult circumstances.  Bilingual abilities are a plus.  Must be a high school graduate.  Salary commensurate with experience.  Excellent fringe benefits.  This institution is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer.
