Greg W. White was selected by the Board of Directors of Northern Neck Electric Cooperative as its President and Chief Executive Officer effective August 1, 2005. White was Senior Vice President of Power Supply for Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC), a generation and transmission cooperative, in Glen Allen, Virginia.
White began his career in 1974 as a distribution engineer with Florida Power and Light Company. In 1977, he returned to Virginia as a planning engineer with Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) in Fredericksburg. At REC, White was promoted to Manager of Planning Engineering and earned his Professional Engineering Certificate from the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1979. In 1990, White joined Old Dominion Electric Cooperative as Director of Power Supply and was later promoted to Assistant Vice President of Engineering and Operations. From 1995-1999, he served as Executive Vice President of the Virginia, Maryland and Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives, before rejoining ODEC in 1999.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Pete White, he grew up on Gwynns Island and graduated from Mathews High School. He received his degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1974 and earned his MBA at Virginia Commonwealth University. Greg White’s wife, Carolyn, retired from Rappahannock Electric Cooperative. They have two sons, Casey and Jared, and a daughter-in-law, Michelle, who is Jared’s wife.
White was elected to represent Virginia as a member of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s (NRECA) board of directors beginning 2014. He has served as the chairman of the board of ODEC. His community involvement includes serving as board chairman of the Richmond County YMCA and a member and past president of the Warsaw Rotary Club. Greg and Carolyn White are members of Cobham Park Baptist Church.
